About Penpont Holiday Park
Tucked into rolling Dumfriesshire countryside just north of the town, Penpont Holiday Park offers a peaceful base for exploring Scotland's southwest. The site earns consistently high marks for its tidy facilities and welcoming atmosphere, with visitors particularly praising the helpful owners who go out of their way to make stays comfortable. Pitches are level and well-maintained, and there's a real sense of calm here—perfect after a day out discovering Dumfries's Robert Burns heritage or venturing into the Southern Uplands.
The park strikes a nice balance between being rural enough to feel like an escape yet close enough to Dumfries for supplies and dining out. It's the sort of no-nonsense, well-run site that seasoned tourers appreciate: straightforward, friendly, and reliably pleasant without trying to be anything it's not.

A hidden little gem tucked away. Very quiet and well maintained. Wonderful walks to be had. Along the river bank behide. Lovely place to chill out. Spent all most a week here Tues to Monday the most chilling relaxing break I've ever had . Lovely walks around the park and Thornhill village , everyone so friendly. The Kings Head pub is lovely to spend an evening at. Definitely a lovely caravan park either visit or to live in .

A nice, friendly site. Very peaceful. The showers although a little dated, are really powerful. There's a kitchen area for cleaning dishes and a plug for charging devices if needed. The tent area is nice, with a great view, but next to a river, so make sure you're well prepared for the wee beastie's. (Smidge/netting) (I saw some amazing Red Kite (birds of prey) flying around.) 😍 There's a local village shop a few minutes walk if you turn left out of the site, or there's Thornhill a couple of miles away if you turn right out of the site. It has a co-op, boots and some places to eat etc. Overall I highly recommend. 🙂

Pitched a tent here for 2 night. Very clean with decent showers, toilet block and a wee kitchen for dishes etc. Absolutely lovely wee place. Staff are really nice. Beautiful wee river runs at the back of the camp. Really peaceful and quiet.
