Holebeck Touring Caravan Site

Enjoyed having my Caravan sited here for years with my little Family. Loved the walks through the fields etc. I've met some of the best people in my life! Always up for a laugh, I've also had some miserable times but you always get picked back up again! 😊

We booked this site last-minute over the school holidays as a family with children. At £45 per night (plus additional charges for a dog and an awning), it was significantly more expensive than other places we’ve stayed recently, including sites in the Lake District. That said, we needed somewhere quickly—so we took what we could get. First impressions weren’t great. We were greeted by a run-down wooden play area and a rusty, disused burger van, which added to a generally unkempt atmosphere. The play park gate was propped open with an old office chair—not the welcoming touch you'd expect at this price point. Hoping the facilities might justify the cost, we headed to the toilets. Unfortunately, these were in poor condition: cobwebs, hair all over the floor and in the drains, and only one shower in operation (the other padlocked shut). The working shower requires a £1 coin for around four minutes of use, with water that went from scalding hot to freezing cold. There was no soap or hot water at the sinks, and the taps leaked. We were also unaware that the site hosts Friday night parties in the barn, with loud music and karaoke for the sited caravan community. While some guests were friendly, other younger groups used really inappropriate language around children, which made the environment feel far from family-friendly. One particularly frustrating aspect was the inconsistency in rules: sited caravans were allowed fire pits, but touring guests were not. When we mistakenly lit one, we were immediately reprimanded and threatened with removal from the site. It left us feeling like second-class guests despite paying premium prices. There are plenty of other sites in the Wolsingham area offering better value for £25–£35 per night. Next time, we’ll plan ahead and book elsewhere. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t return to this site or recommend it to others.

I was on the site for just under 18 months then felt the need to leave. Pretty much bullied off the site by the owner who is very abrupt and continuously spoke to me like I had done something wrong when I hadn't. This caused me to have alot of anxiety everytime I was coming up for the weekend and in the end just wasn't worth it. It's not 1 rule for all, so when you do something she doesNt want you to and your confused as to why others are allowed, you become an issue for asking . The site is very basic, there's nothing on site but a tiny play park and the toilet/shower block, which is very hit and miss whether it's clean or every toilet in a state. The entire time I was there the showers have not been in use. Even when everywhere else started to open their facilities, holebeck didn't. And there was no real reason as to why not. I can only assume they didn't want to have to put the effort in to clean them or have to pay for hot water. Even with the lack of facilities The annual fees were still increased!! The fees are cheap compared to other sites but you get what you pay for as like everything else. Some of the families they have visiting the site for the weekends are very off putting. They just let anyone on. They can be very entertaining to watch and listen to but You also hope they won't stay long! The site is in a nice location and the people who are actually sited there are nice. It's a shame the owner couldn't Brush up on her people skills. I've never met anyone quite so rude and abrupt :/

Site was ok, access not too bad. But... some noisy families and rough kids spoiled it. Some kids over run the tiny play park, not allowing other kids to play nicely. I witnessed stone throwing, swearing and spitting from kids as young as 5 or 6. Loud music played till around midnight. Toilets were clean and tidy but showers were locked the whole time we were there. Hoping it was just the Bank Holiday that brought the worse out in people. Might visit again at another time of year.
