County Durham

Weardale Valley unfolds around Low Cornriggs Farm, where Nelly's Cottage sits high on the hillside surrounded by working farmland. Public footpaths and cycle paths start from the gate, making it straightforward to explore the valley and beyond on foot or by bike. The cottage is on one level throughout, with an enclosed courtyard for sitting out and a bike store on site.

Inside are three bedrooms—two with single beds and one with a super king—arranged around two bathrooms. One ensuite has a walk-in shower and grab rail; the main bathroom has a bath with shower over. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking (electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, slow cooker, air fryer), and the living room has a 42-inch smart TV and countryside views. Bed linen, towels, heating, electricity and Wi-Fi are all included. One well-behaved dog stays free of charge.

The property suits families, groups and guests with mobility needs—it has wheelchair access and accessible ensuite facilities. Private parking fits three cars. No smoking inside.

Wonderful accomodation, huge, clean and well equipped. We experienced a little niggle with the WiFi in the evenings with it being slow or failing to connect.

A lovely peaceful place, lots of walks nearby. Cottage is well equipped and comfortable. Owner is friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking. Views are great. Courtyard is secure for pets.

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay. Janet was lovely and friendly. The cottages are well set up and great for anyone who needs a wheelchair. Lots of space, and accessories within the kitchen. There’s 2 shower rooms (1 is an ensuite) but again lots of space and well thought out with disabilities in mind. Gorgeous views when the clouds are not so low. Ideal if you’re a walker, location in middle of lots of places to visit. Lots of information and maps in the cottages for you to look through and plan your holiday. Dog friendly which is always a plus in my daughters mind 😊 I’d say plan meals ahead and take shopping with you, as shops are few and far between, however Janet does offer meals up in the B&B and did save us with a stock cube I’d forgotten to bring 🤦🏻‍♀️

Lovely cottages, highly recommend. We rented both for a larger group which worked perfectly as they share a back yard space which was ideal for sitting outside on sunny evenings. Definitely have dinner in the b&b if you can, the pies are amazing
