A fire pit on the terrace is the kind of detail that makes a cottage feel like more than just somewhere to sleep. The Nook sits in Shotley Bridge, a village in the Derwent Valley with walking routes on the doorstep and a pub within a mile. The house has been refurbished with contemporary finishes but keeps a traditional feel, spread across two floors with a living room, separate dining space and a modern kitchen equipped for cooking proper meals rather than reheating takeaways.
There are two bedrooms upstairs—a king-size and a double—served by a ground-floor shower room. Downstairs, the living area has an electric fire and board games for quieter evenings. Outside, decking overlooks the garden; the fire pit works for cooler nights. Electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included. Dogs stay without extra charge, making it straightforward to bring a pet along. The property is yours alone for the duration of your stay.
The location works as a base for exploring County Durham's heritage and the North East countryside, or simply for walking and village life without the noise. No smoking inside.
