Rockville Farm - Shyre Stable
East Riding of Yorkshire

Shyre Stable stands as a converted farm building over two centuries old, transformed into holiday accommodation while retaining the character of its rural setting. The property sits on working farmland near Flamborough, with grounds that support resident wildlife—visitors have spotted owls and badgers across the paddocks and nature walks. The Outer Headlands location puts the coast within easy reach, with award-winning beaches 5 miles away and Bridlington's seafront a 10-minute drive.
The whole building is yours alone: two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the ground floor, with a king bed in one room and twin singles in the other. The open-plan living and dining space centres on an electric woodburner, and the kitchen is properly equipped for self-catering, with a gas cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and washer-dryer. Parking for two cars sits on the property. Essentials including bed linen, towels, electricity and wifi are covered; gas central heating keeps things warm through cooler months.
The setting works well for families wanting space to move around—there's a paddock, a shared games room with pool table, and a summer house in the garden. The RSPB sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs lies 1.5 miles away, and Scarborough's beaches and attractions are 20 minutes' drive. The grounds include an unfenced pond 50 yards from the building, and smoking is not permitted.

Unfortunately had to cancel a booking due to ill health. Booked for May and cancelled in January to give plenty of notice for the owner to re-let the property. Did not receive an acknowledgment so sent a further email to check my original message had been received. Still no acknowledgement. Courtesy does not cost anything, very disappointed.

We loved our stay in the beautiful Rockville Lodge situated in a quiet, private, and tranquil part of Rockville Farm overlooking the beautiful gardens. The lodge was outstanding, immaculately clean, and had everything we needed for a perfect holiday. When we arrived at the lodge, we were welcomed by Richard and Claire, who were amazing hosts. Our lodge had fresh free range eggs from the farm, tea, coffee, milk and a lovely bottle of wine already chilled in the fridge, what more could we ask for, a perfect start to our holiday. We had a fantastic week, and as always, we could have stayed longer. There are lots of places to visit and a train station just 10 minutes walk down the road if you don't want to drive. We have stayed at Rockville Farm many times over the years, and we would most certainly recommend to family and friends. Thank you again, Richard and Claire, for being such great hosts and for a fantastic holiday, we will be back again for another stay very soon. Liz and Paul 😊

The first impression when we arrived was very pleasant. My wife and I have visited from Cornwall to Scotland and it is not easy to find a welcoming and clean Cottage with a good clean smell. From the very well organized kitchen to the bedrooms with very comfortable beds. The owners very helpful and friendly. We had a very comfortable and relaxed week. The Cottage is in a very good location for exploring the surroundings, especially for those keen on wildlife and bird watching with RSPB Bempton Cliffs just a 30 minute walk from the front door. Another positive aspect is the train station 10 minutes walk from the house, well connected to York and Scarborough for those who want to visit without the stress of driving. Next door to the cottage there is also a delightful tea room which also belongs to Richard where we had two delicious lunches. What more can I say? We will definitely come back and recommend to our friends

This is the 2nd time that we have stayed at Rockville Farm Cottages and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday with them. We had booked the Copper House which was clean, comfortable and spacious with everything provided for our stay. We loved the Welcome tray with teabags, coffee sachets, lovely biscuits, some for us and also some for our dog which were very much enjoyed! There was also milk and eggs in the fridge. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Our dog loved the big field on site where we could exercise him and he could chase his ball. The cottages are in a peaceful village and ideally situated for trips along the coast or to the North Yorkshire Moors. We will definitely be booking again next year.
