The Old Forge Cottage
East Riding of Yorkshire
View on Google MapsSewerby sits between Bridlington and Flamborough Head on the East Riding coast, a village built around working harbour life and long clifftop walks. The Old Forge Cottage occupies a quiet corner of the village, a single-bedroom base for two people with their own entrance, parking and private patio. A pub and restaurant are 150 yards away; the beach is three-quarters of a mile on foot.
The cottage is arranged on one level with an open-plan living space, a kitchen with electric hob and combined microwave-oven-grill, a double bedroom with a 4ft 6in bed, and a shower room. Wifi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. One dog stays free, and the owners have left a welcome pack and dog extras. The grounds are shared with other properties on the same site.
This location works well for coastal exploration. Danes Dyke nature reserve lies north along the headland; Bridlington with its two sandy beaches and seafront amenities is a mile south. Sewerby Hall, a stately home with 50 acres of gardens and a zoo, sits on the clifftops above the village. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is a short drive away. Those without pets in mind might head inland to the Yorkshire Wolds or north to Filey and Scarborough; York is an hour's drive. No smoking in the cottage.
