First visit. Took a look at the house which was fairly interesting as a guided tour. The museum is packed which is why most of our time was spent in there. We took a picnic and enjoyed that in the lovely peaceful, calm grounds. Enjoyable first visit

What a find! A very interesting and beautifully presented museum and seperate country house, Quex House. We encountered a wonderful member of staff called Fenje. She's very knowledgeable and informative about the museum and the house, as she was also our House Tour Guide. The on site cafe, Felicity's is also excellent. Indoor and outdoor seating with wonderful, delicious homemade food. There is also Quex gardens but we did not have time to visit them. The entry to the whole site is a little confusing, as to where to park for each area. Brown road signage points to Quex Gardens but this also leads to the Cotton-Powell Museum and Felicity's Cafe.

The Powell-Cotton museum and the family mansion next to it are definitely worth a visit! The museum has provision for young children with sensory needs and even provides an opportunity for a hands-on experience, named as "Handling collection". It hosts more than 200 animals and other items from the founder's expeditions in Asia and Africa. The house also hosts interesting exhibits, along with spectacular furniture and tapestries, amongst which an authentic Napoleon's drawing and his hair (!) Our guide, Margaret, was knowledgeable and very friendly, making the visit even more pleasant. We finished our visit at the mini-golf garden, close by but we'll definitely be back, as there's so much more to do and see. Great family day out, recommended!

Beautiful museum, well cared for. Stunning collection. Didn't give five stars as would love to see more gardens like 20 years ago . Especially the walled secret garden. Trees Stunning, it's a big area.
