Shepherd’s Retreat

Epping Forest's fruit farms offer a quieter side of Essex, away from the main roads but within reach of shops and cafes. Shepherd's Retreat sits among the orchards here, a single ground-floor space with a double bed, shower room, and open-plan living and kitchen area. The wood burner draws on gas heating, and Wi-Fi keeps you connected if you need it. One dog travels free.

The hut's real character comes from its setting. Orchard views fill the windows, and there's a sitting-out area where you can watch the fields from garden furniture. A combi microwave, fridge and coffee machine handle basic cooking. Bed linen, towels and the initial fuel for the burner are included. There's parking for one car on site, and the farm shop and cafe are on the property itself, so supplies are close by. Smoking is not permitted inside.
