What visitors say
Such a wonderful pub/stay - so much history + bags of character. The staff are all extremely welcoming/friendly - truly couldn’t have done more for us. The evening meal was fantastic also - we had the Steak & Ale pie - just amazing! We stayed the night + had a cracking full English breakfast in the morning - cooked to perfection! We are absolutely coming back (many times most likely!). Would most highly recommend! +++++

A truly wonderful pub! Super friendly people, a cosy and authentic atmosphere, and incredibly quick and welcoming service. The food was outstanding — the pies are absolutely award winning and fully deserve the praise. Easily some of the best pies we’ve ever had. A place you immediately want to come back to! A reservation is definitely highly recommended, as it’s clearly a very popular place — and for very good reason.

Amazing historical pub, fascinating interior. Although focus is on food, they have a great range of well kept Real Ales and are listed in the CAMRA Guide. Well worth visiting, but there is no car park and very limited on road parking in village.

Visited for a Sunday lunch and had the pork and beef Sunday roasts as well as the apple crumble. The pub was packed (make a reservation!) but the staff were unflappable and any wait was well worth it. The roasts were absolutely fantastic with quite possibly the best gravy I have ever had. The crumble was also a thing of beauty. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The pub itself is very atmospheric.
