The Lodge @ East Neuk Orchards sits at the entrance to an orchard estate in rural Fife, surrounded by a mix of cultivated and wild ground that opens onto countryside and nature reserves. The detached cottage itself dates from the early 18th century but has been fitted throughout for modern comfort. You get the whole property to yourself, with an acre of grounds (shared informally with the owner) to wander, plus private parking for two cars and an electric charging point available by arrangement.
Inside, everything is on one level and arranged around an open-plan living space with a wood burner, dining area and fully equipped kitchen. Two ensuite bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed, one with singles—give you four sleeping spaces. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included, and logs for the burner come with the booking. The kitchen has what you need to cook properly: electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. Step out onto the terrace with garden furniture to settle in with a morning coffee, or explore the grounds—though wellies are advisable as there are no formal paths. One dog is welcome. The property does not allow smoking.
The location suits walkers and cyclists particularly well. Kellie Law lies adjacent, Kellie Castle and its gardens are roughly a mile and a half away, and the nearby reservoir draws birdwatchers. Quieter country roads and tracks branch out in most directions. The Fife coast is within reach by car for a change of scene.
