About California Chalet and Touring Park
California Chalet and Touring Park sits within easy reach of Finchampstead's peaceful country park and its network of walking trails, making it a handy base for dog owners and families exploring Wokingham's greener corners. Recent refurbishments have lifted the shower and toilet blocks, and the clearly marked hardstanding pitches – including three extra-large fully serviced options – are kept tidy and well-maintained. Two- and four-person camping pods offer an alternative to pitching a tent.
Staff earn consistent praise for their welcoming approach, though it's worth double-checking your bill as some visitors have noticed occasional overcharges. Open year-round with electric hook-up across the site, it's a straightforward, dog-friendly choice that does the essentials well without unnecessary fuss.

What visitors say
I took my granddaughter for an overnight stay in our campervan to the site. The staff were welcoming, the site was very well looked after and the newly refurbished toliets and showers were fresh and clean. My granddaughter loved going to the country park, which is a short walk away. We will definitely be back!

Nice campsite in a very convenient location. Grounds are well kept and presentable. Facilities are good and showers hot. Only a few downsides worth being aware of: 1. Showers don't have curtains so you have to be very careful about not splashing all over your clothes. A pet hate of mine for campsites...owners if you see this please consider adding! 2. There are a lot of seemingly semi/permanent residents. They were friendly in my experience and it didn't bother us but this might ruin the "vibe" for some people. 3. I did see a big rat run out from the bushes next to the shower block (where the big gas container is). Probably not much they can do about this and the bins seemed well protected, but worth noting.

Stayed for a few nights. Underwhelmed! Sadly, the beautiful site, and it is, has been taken over by what seems to be "permanent" stay caravans and motorhomes of trades people, many of whom have set up home. Unless the council have given some sort of dispensation, this contravenes England Campsite law. The facilities block is well maintained and clean, but lack in the number necessary for the number of pitches - only one block with a only a couple of showers and toilets in each of the ladies and gents. Very close to the country park lake which has a many footpaths through the woods and cafe. Easy access to Wokingham town with its many shops and Tesco Superstore (one of the best I have been to). A good welcome from reception. Reception is only part time, and sells very limited supplies. Pitch management leaves something to be desired as we were on a small pitch for the size of our outfit.

Lovely weekend touring at this site, Michelle and Dan fantastic members of staff and very friendly. Great location with plenty of walks and rides locally. Only thing that would improve things. More hooks and a little stall to sit on in the showers.
