About Spalite Hotel
Spalite Hotel occupies a Grade II listed building on Southgate Street, close to the new Gloucester dock development and only a few minutes' walk from the cathedral. Its central position makes it one of the more convenient guest houses for visitors wanting to explore the city entirely on foot.
Rooms include family options with flat-screen televisions, hairdryers and hospitality trays, and a full English or continental breakfast is served each morning. A shared lounge and garden give guests a place to relax away from their room, and public parking is available nearby for a small daily charge.
The Southgate Street address puts Kingsholm Stadium, the cathedral and the docks all within easy walking distance, making it a practical, well-located choice for visitors without a strong preference for a full-service hotel.
What guests say
We recently had the pleasure of staying at Spalite Hotel, and our experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, our host, welcomed us with open arms. His warmth and hospitality set the tone for what would be an unforgettable stay. The room was immaculate, reflecting a level of care and attention to detail that is truly rare. Everything was beautifully maintained, and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into making our stay as comfortable as possible. Little touches, like the fresh milk waiting for us in the fridge and the generous assortment of coffee and tea, made us feel right at home. Spalite Hotel exceeded all our expectations, and we can't recommend it highly enough. Whether you're visiting Gloucestershire for a short stay or an extended visit, you won't find a more welcoming and accommodating place. For us, it was an 11 out of 10 experience. We traveled from Barcelona to explore the area, and our one night at Spalite Hotel was truly lovely—an experience we’ll remember fondly.

Spencer is very friendly. I stayed in Gloucester for one night on business. It made sense to spend half as much at the Spalite hotel as compared to other 3-star hotels. The decor is a bit old, but I didn't think it mattered... in fact, it has a certain charm. If I ever return to Gloucester, I'd stay here again.

Best hospitality I've had in a while. Needed emergency accommodation and was greeted at 23:30 on a Tuesday night, got the family suit at a discounted price since it was just me, very comfortable and neat. The owner is very welcoming and helpful. Got provided with a phone charger and fast WiFi, and offered breakfast but had to leave early. Really saved me as all else was closed or full. Will definitely return.

Nicest of the range of hotels and B&Bs I've stayed at over the past weeks. Very clean room with a fridge (and fresh milk!) and side garden view. Soft towels. Good bathroom fan. Super lovely staff. Just across the street from the Quay, and walking distance from the train station. This town has almost nothing nice but this hotel is great!!
