About Mandolay Hotel Guildford
The Mandolay Hotel sits on London Road, close enough to Guildford railway station to be a practical choice for anyone arriving by train, and only a short walk or taxi ride from the town centre. It is one of the larger independent hotels in Guildford, with a substantial number of bedrooms and several function and meeting rooms.
The hotel's restaurant and bar serve both residents and local diners, and its meeting and events spaces make it a regular choice for conferences and functions connected to the town's business community as well as weddings. Bedrooms are comfortable and consistently equipped rather than boutique in style, aimed at reliability over individuality.
Its location by the station and the A3 makes it an efficient base for business travellers and for weekend visitors who arrive by train and want to walk everywhere once in Guildford, without the higher rates of the town's more boutique properties.

What guests say
I booked a single snug room, b&b for 3 nights for Guilfest. The room was perfect for me, very comfortable bed, excellent air con plenty of tea/coffee/biscuits supply, thick fluffy towels, complimentary toiletries & lovely jelly sweets. All the staff, check in ( Scarlet), Louis who explained & set up air con for me, housekeeping, and the very hardworking bar and restaurant staff were excellent. Breakfast was tasty, plentiful, and refilled efficiently. There was fresh fruit, yoghurts, pastries, various breads, cold meats & cheese, bacon, sausages, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, scrambled & boiled eggs, hash browns, pancakes and a fantastic selection of jams, marmite, Nutella and even biscoff spread. Excellent location for Guilfest and would be ideal for G live too.

I was impressed by the staff at Mandalay hotel. Everyone was very welcoming and genuinely seemed to like working there and helping customers. Linda and the staff in the restaurant (on 08/03- breakfast time) were excellent. The room was very clean and well stocked. A very minor issue is that due to the hotel possible being an old-refurbished building, sometimes you can really hear the plumbing at night. However, I cannot see how that can be avoided. I will wear loops next time. Will definitely come back!

We enjoyed our brief stay in The Mandolay a week and a half ago. Sunita greeted us and led us to our room. She a was lovely -- kind, thoughtful, and personable. The room itself was very comfortable and clean and had excellent air conditioning in the midst of the heat wave. It was a quick walk up to the high street and we had a great meal at The Ivy. Had we stayed longer, we could have visited more of what Guildford offers.

Remarkably good. It’s got what you would expect nice modern rooms, good bathrooms, good AC but the differences are: 1. Staff - we’ve not come across such an enthusiastic, helpful and ‘nice’ bunch in a long while. 2. Rooms - bigger and nicer than the Harbour. Yeah the Harbour has all the glass and the health spa they’ll charge you twenty quid just to walk past, but this is bigger and nicer. You could drown a small elephant in our bathtub. The tea / coffee set up is another tell - actual milk in the fridge, proper tea and coffee - stuff you would actually have at home and want to use, drink and eat. 3. Temperature - we were at the top of the hotel on a sunny day in summer - we’ve played that game before in other hotels and I was preparing to walk into a room like it was off Tenko. But no, some kind sole had pre-prepped the room to a cool temperature and it’s not an irritating set up where the temperature control goes off when you leave your room. 4. Bar - great set up, helpful bar staff. Suggestions, two for one on Aperol and when we sat outside they turned the outside heater on for us when the sun went down. Only hiccup was car parking - it’s going to get busy and there has to be rules and charges but they need a slicker way of wrapping that all up and in to a package that coincides with the room. A very small grumble but there it is. PS. The wife took a photo of the paint on the walls in our bedroom, because that’s going on the walls in our lounge now.
