Beddgelert sits at the heart of Snowdonia, surrounded by walking routes that range from gentle riverside paths to mountain trails, and the Welsh Highland Railway runs steam trains from here toward Caernarfon. Beaches are a short drive away, and the village itself—famous for the legend of Gelert the hound—has shops, restaurants and a pub all within a quarter-mile. Old Tan Rhiw is a restored 17th-century cottage positioned near the village centre, sleeping eight across four bedrooms: two doubles and two rooms with bunks. There are two bathrooms, one en-suite to a ground-floor double and one shared between it and a second double upstairs; the other two bedrooms have access to a family bathroom with bath and shower.
The ground floor has a living room with an open fire and television, and a kitchen-dining space with a wood burner, electric cooker, dishwasher and all essentials for self-catering. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included; initial fuel for both fires is provided. The distinctive feature is a steep cliff-garden (26 steps with a handrail) that climbs above the house to a small decked seating area with views toward the river and mountains. The cottage is non-smoking and welcomes one pet. On-road parking is available.

Ideally placed for our trip to Mount Snowdon. Very nice cottage with most necessary items in the kitchen. Warm and clean, well serviced.
