About Letton Campground
Pitched in quiet Herefordshire farmland near the River Wye, Letton Campground runs as a pub-with-pitches – a low-key base for walkers and outdoor fans heading into the Wye Valley. The on-site restaurant and bar means hot meals and real ale without leaving camp, while facilities include showers, wifi, and electric hook-ups for motorhomes alongside non-electric grass pitches for tents. Views sweep across open hills and farmland, and you're minutes from the Wye Valley Walk and Offa's Dyke Path.
Hay-on-Wye's bookshops and riverside paddleboard hire sit 15 minutes' drive away, with the site handily placed on the Hereford–Brecon road for exploring further. Some reviews note the campground can feel a little tired in places, but the peaceful setting, dog-friendly policy and immediate access to national trails win most people over. A farm shop nearby stocks local produce if you fancy cooking under canvas.

What visitors say
We stopped at Preston camp site on the night of our two day canoe trip down the Wye. The clamping tent was brilliant it had five beds set up for us. The facilities were spotless. I have already recommended the site to my friends and family and we are hoping to return next year.

We stayed in a glamping tent for one night and had a really enjoyable experience. Philip, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. The tent itself was spotless, well equipped with crockery, and the beds were comfortable. We loved having our own fire pit, and the picnic bench by each tent was a nice touch. The showers were hot and worked well. The campsite is set right on the banks of the River Wye, making it really easy to access the water directly from the site. The only small point of confusion was around the showers – I don’t think they are intended for campers’ use. A clear sign might be useful to avoid any uncertainty.

We had a fantastic stay at Preston Campsite. It’s a lovely, family-run site with a really welcoming feel. Our tents were beautiful – spacious, well set up, with comfy beds and plenty of storage, which made everything so easy and relaxed. Philip was brilliant – genuinely helpful and kind, and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. It’s a great spot to switch off and enjoy some time outdoors without giving up comfort. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and would 100% stay again!

Has a glamping section. The main field is quite flat, so there was no need for us to put the motorhome up on the ramps. Section by the river is not as flat but OK. Wooden steps allow easy access to the river into a shallower part, which would be ideal for kids paddling. 4 portaloos kept clean, but you need to expect them to be smelly. Owner was friendly and gave great advice when asked. Always paused when passing to check everything was ok and have a quick chat if you wanted to. Heard an owl early one morning.
