About Foot of the Downs

Tucked into a working farm in the South Downs National Park, Foot of the Downs delivers proper escape-to-the-countryside charm with surprisingly polished glamping huts. Each unit comes with its own ensuite bathroom, a well-equipped kitchenette, and a private outdoor space complete with picnic bench and log seating—perfect for soaking up those sweeping South Downs views. Guests consistently praise the spotless facilities, comfortable beds, and genuinely helpful welcome.

Location-wise, you're beautifully placed for walks straight from the door: the Devil's Dyke Trail and South Downs Way are both close at hand, and there's secure bike storage back at base. Brighton's a 25-minute drive when you fancy the buzz of the coast, while the local pub sits just half a mile away for low-key evenings. Hire a firepit, settle in with a drink as the stars come out, and let the peace of this tiny site work its magic. Shops in Steyning or Henfield (both around ten minutes by car) cover any essentials.

The most perfect stay, loved it so much we didn’t want to leave! Hut was beautifully clean, comfy bed and a hot shower. We offered a fire pit pack and bbq pack number two, the food was delicious. Beautiful walks nearby and lots of pubs. Will be back to stay again! Thank you so much Angela xx

We absolutely loved our stay at Foot of the Downs! The shepherds hut is more spacious than what we expected, very clean, and it provides everything you need (the bed is very comfy too). Upon arrival we booked the breakfast hamper, and the quality of the food, produced locally, was excellent. The location is absolutely spectacular, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sunset around the fire. I recommend reading the green guidebook you'll find inside the hut, as it provides plenty of info on what to do and where to visit in the surrounding area. Booking, check-in and arrival at the glamping site were straightforward, thanks to the smooth communication with Angela. Overall, it was a lovely experience, and we’ll definitely be back!

The perfect pod for a perfect stay. The pod has everything you need for a relaxing stay and al fresco dining. The outside space is peaceful and the outlook is beautiful. The location is fantastic - for walking and for the local pub. We had amazing weather which was the icing on the cake. Will certainly look to return.

A beautiful landscape for our two night stay in a shepherds hut. Perfect facilities including a practical kitchen area, refreshing shower, cosy bed with black out curtains, flushing loo and outside area with a firepit, picnic table and chairs. Most stunning tho was the surrounding countryside, and dark skies, filled with stars on night 2. The best break from city life. Thank you!
