Mavis Cottage is a detached two-bedroom property on the edge of Kington, with everything you need already supplied. Electricity, heating oil, bed linen and towels are included, as are initial logs for the woodburner. The kitchen has an electric cooker, washing machine and fridge with freezer compartment, so you can prepare proper meals rather than relying on takeaways. Wifi keeps you connected if you need it. Parking for three cars sits on site, and an enclosed garden with furniture gives you outdoor space of your own.

Upstairs are two bedrooms: one with a double bed and one with two singles, sleeping four altogether. The shower room is downstairs. You also have access to five acres of land around the cottage, useful for stretching your legs or a picnic, though the grounds do contain five ponds so families with small children should keep an eye out. Direct access leads onto Offa's Dyke and Hergest Ridge for more serious walking. Kington itself—shops, pubs and restaurants—is a mile and a half away. The Welsh border landscapes and nearby attractions including Hay-on-Wye, Hereford Cathedral and Ledbury's black-and-white villages are all within reach. The cottage is non-smoking.
