Breacwell Cottage

Highland

Families with young children, couples after a quiet retreat, and small groups will find Breacwell Cottage works well. The cottage sleeps five across two bedrooms—a double with ensuite on the upper floor, and a double plus a single child's bed in the second room. One dog is welcome at no extra cost, though it must stay on a lead since sheep graze the adjoining fields. Ground floor holds the main living spaces: a sitting room with an open fire (coal included to get you started), a well-stocked kitchen with dining area, bathroom with corner bath, and a conservatory facing the loch. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all covered. There's a private parking space for two cars and an enclosed garden with decking and picnic table.

The setting matters here. Breacwell sits on the banks of Loch Migdale on a small croft, so you're surrounded by working land and genuine wildlife habitat. Swans, ospreys, deer, otters and red squirrels are regular visitors. The conservatory is genuinely positioned to watch the loch rather than merely overlook it. For those wanting to explore the wider Highlands, the location serves as a base; for those wanting simply to sit still and look, that works too. The garden has steps, which matters if accessibility is a concern. No smoking inside the property.
