Druimbhan

Photo: Druimbhan Holiday Cottage

Druimbhan is a single-storey cottage on the ground floor in Lochailort, sleeping two in a double bedroom. Everything you need is reached without stairs: kitchen, bathroom, living room with woodburner, and a utility room where you can dry outdoor gear. The bedroom has windows on two sides—one overlooking the burn, one the waterfall, so you fall asleep to running water. Essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, along with a welcome pack. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking with electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge-freezer.

Outside, the grounds are wooded and planted with shrubs, with a small path leading uphill past the cottage where you can sit and watch the water flow. There are four steps in the grounds and a stream to note. Dogs stay free and the cottage provides a bed, bowl and towel for them, plus an outdoor hose for rinsing muddy paws. One car or small van can park on site. A pub is within a mile's walk. Lochailort sits on one of Scotland's most dramatic driving routes, and the railway—which runs less than 200 yards away—will stop here if you ask the guard. No smoking inside.

Fantastic cottage. For me the perfect stay for our trip around Scotland in 23. Loved the woodfire, the peaty water in the bathtub, the beautifull stream next to the house and the mindblowing region.

We had a wonderful stay here - the cottage was quite rustic but had everything we needed and was lovely and cosy. The setting is beautiful and location is great with the pub just a five minute walk away, the railway station even closer and lots of things to see and do just a short drive away. The walks from Polnish to Peanmeanach and Morar to Tarbet (with boat back to Mallaig!) were two particular highlights. This is a special part of the world and we hope to return at some point in the future!
