Tain holds the distinction of being Scotland's oldest royal burgh, granted its charter in 1066, and the town rewards a wander with historic buildings that now house bars, cafés and restaurants. Holly Tree Cottage sits on a quiet street within easy reach of the centre, a detached 19th-century property that sleeps six across three bedrooms and one bathroom.

The ground floor holds a double bedroom, a living room with woodburner and Smart TV, and a kitchen-dining room where a second woodburner is the focal point. Patio doors open to an enclosed rear garden with lawn, patio, furniture and barbecue, accessed too from a garage that houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and storage for sports equipment. Upstairs, a kingsize bedroom and a twin complete the accommodation. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, along with initial wood for the burners. A travel cot, highchair and stairgate are available if needed. One pet stays free.

Parking for three cars is on site. The nearest shop, Bannerman Seafoods and Wholefoods, is close by. No smoking is permitted inside.
