Paterson Cottage is a detached stone property on farmland near Muir of Ord, a 15-minute drive from Inverness. The whole place is ground floor, with two double bedrooms (one en-suite) and a second bathroom, sleeping four. An open-plan living and dining area has a wood-burning stove, exposed stone walls and high vaulted ceilings; the kitchen is equipped for everyday cooking, with a dishwasher and full-size appliances. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included, along with initial logs for the stove.

Outside, an enclosed patio and garden lead onto open fields. There is parking for two cars on site. The cottage accepts one well-behaved pet. No smoking inside.

Just back from a week's stay, at Paterson Cottage. When we arrived we both felt it looked even better than the pictures on the website. The cottage is a great size and both the beds, and the bedding are very high quality. The kitchen is fantastic, and again it is kitted out, with all top end appliances. With full original user manuals available for the guest. The property has a fabulous garden that our dog absolutely loved. There is a gate at the end of the garden and a set of gates at the approach to the cottage. Once you have closed them both, you can do as we did and leave the patio doors open and relax, knowing your dog is completely safe. We found the cottage to be very well located for the areas we like to visit. We already knew the area very well, having previously stayed in another property in Muir of Ord twice. As another visitor has pointed out, the cottage is very close to the busy main road, and on the first night especially, partly due to being somewhere new, getting to sleep took a little while. If you are a light sleeper, you might want to consider bringing ear plugs or cotton wool, but it was never a major issue for us, and after the first night we slept very well, and it's unfair to criticize the owners, for something out with there control. So to sum up, we are highly likely to return to the area again, and when we do it will definitely be to return to Paterson Cottage.

Only visited someone staying here, but the house is lovely, well presented and handy for the black isle and Inverness
