The Barn

The Barn is a converted stone property on the outskirts of Lairg, set back from the main road with parking for four cars. All living spaces are on the ground floor, arranged around a spacious open-plan room with triple-aspect windows overlooking the surrounding countryside. A wood burner serves the living area, which has a sofa and Freeview TV; the kitchen is separate but adjoins the dining space, and there's a heated vestibule at the entrance for wet kit and boots. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are included, along with initial logs for the burner.

The two bedrooms have zip-and-link beds—the main room sleeps two (configured as a superking or two singles), the second room has two single beds—and both overlook the countryside. A shower cubicle and heated towel rail serve the bathroom. Underfloor heating runs throughout. Patio doors from the living room open onto a large decking area; beyond that is an enclosed garden with seating, accessible via two steps down from the decking. Dogs stay free, and the garden is a secure space for them to move about.

Lairg lies 1¾ miles away and has shops, restaurants, a petrol station and visitor centre. The location suits people wanting access to local amenities without sacrificing the feel of the Highlands. No smoking indoors.
