We enjoyed learning about the history of this unique island, and especially found it interesting learning about the more recent local info. For example, the number of residents, their nationality and we very happy to learn on the very day we visited the Centre, there had been a population increase of 3 people 😀

Little gem in a remote and unspoilt part of the UK. Not to be missed a small scale museum with artefacts and records from the isle enhance a well laid out exhibition of life and geology of Fetlar. Friendly staff on hand to help with any questions. Cafe with basic but homely good snacks and hot or cold drinks reasonably priced. Situated in the small settlement of Houbie on the southern central edge of Fetlar. Views of Skerries opposite.

Excellent overview f life on Shetland, past and present. Felix on reception is a mine of information on life in Fetlar and full of amusing anecdotes about his own experience of living there. Highly recommended.
