Campsite on Shetland with tent, caravan and motorhome pitches, near the ferry to Whalsay.
About Oot Ower Lounge
Oot Ower Lounge is a campsite in Shetland that takes tents, caravans and motorhomes. The site has shower facilities. Whalsay, the nearest town, is accessible by ferry and offers a working fishing community with local shops and services typical of a Shetland island settlement.
The Shetland Islands are known for their dramatic coastline, archaeology and wildlife. From this location, campers can reach various points on Shetland's mainland by car, including historical sites, coastal walks and birdwatching opportunities. The islands' remoteness means careful planning of supplies and fuel is necessary, though the Ferry to Whalsay provides a link to neighbouring island life.

What visitors say
Nice small campsite in the middle of the nowhere. Not very popular as there was me with tent and 2 other campervans only. Free showers, clean toilets. There is small kitchen where you can use kettle microwave etc. Honesty box operated. Tip: don’t leave your breakfast outside the tent 😅 My packed smoked mackerels didn’t survive the night — some animal got them 🫣

Very small but perfect site looking onto a small harbour with 8 EHU points, room for tents, facilities include showers, toilets, washing machine and dryer, good sized kitchen with washing up area all spotless, unable to book, turn up fill in and envelope with your details and post with your money in the honesty box £20 per night, very quiet site, great walks from site too

Brilliant little site in a very picturesque location. Loads of walks, coastal and more inland, from here. Facilities are excellent and kept spotlessly clean. Wonderful place, very quiet and perfect for a bit of tranquility. There is a community shop within walking distance but note the opening hours shown at the site, as it is not open often or for long. Aside from this the closest shop is at Ulsta, about 4-5 miles away. There is a bus stop not far from the site for those travelling without a vehicle, but again check times carefully. At the time of writing stay rates are £7 per tent per night, and £15 per caravan/camper/motorhome per night. Excellent value given the location and facilities. Beautiful place, highly recommended for tents, camper vans and caravans. Definitely worth a stay over to see more of beautiful Yell.

One of the more memorable community run facilities we have stayed in, as its right on a Marina that's on a lovely coastal walk trail path, so no need to worry about the issue of where to park your motorhome. All mod con facilities on offer can be used including a decent washing machine and dryer, £20 per night, it is a cheaper facility we have had the pleasure of staying in. Thankyou to all the volunteers who donate their time to keep this facility in tip top condition.
