⭐☆☆☆☆ Absolutely disgraceful treatment of disabled customers I rarely leave negative reviews, but after a recent experience at Hollywood Bowl Bolton I feel people need to know how disabled customers can be treated here. We arrived at around 11am and, because the bowling was busy due to the renovations, we were booked in for two lanes at 1pm. The reason for needing two separate lanes was explained clearly to the member of staff at reception. Our group included two autistic young people, one of whom also has ADHD and learning disabilities. We also had adults with autism, ADHD and cognitive difficulties. The entire reason for booking two lanes was to avoid overwhelming the autistic members of our family, who struggle with large groups taking turns on a single lane. Staff were fully aware of this when they accepted the booking. While waiting for our slot, we spent approximately £40 in the arcade, supporting the business while we waited. When we returned to reception at 1pm to collect our lane allocation, we were stunned to discover that Hollywood Bowl had simply decided to give one of our booked lanes to another customer and squeeze us all onto a single lane instead. No phone call. No discussion. No warning. No choice. The fact that we'd specifically explained why we needed two lanes appeared to count for absolutely nothing. When I challenged this, the attitude from the staff made the situation even worse. There was no empathy, no understanding of autism, no attempt to put things right, no goodwill gesture and no meaningful apology. Instead, we were essentially made to feel like we were the problem for expecting the booking we had actually made to be honoured. The outcome was entirely predictable. We had to cancel the bowling, accept a refund and leave. Two autistic young people were left distressed, agitated and overwhelmed, and what should have been an enjoyable family afternoon was completely ruined. The irony is that if we'd simply made two separate online bookings, staff would never have known they were linked and we'd almost certainly have been allowed to keep both lanes. Instead, because we were honest and explained our disabilities and why the adjustment was needed, we were the ones who lost out. This wasn't just poor customer service. It demonstrated a shocking lack of understanding, compassion and respect towards disabled customers. Honouring a booking that had already been accepted was the only reasonable adjustment we asked for, yet even that was apparently too much. Hollywood Bowl should be ashamed of how this situation was handled. The complete lack of accountability and compassion shown by the staff turned what should have been a fun family day out into an upsetting and distressing experience. We will never return, and I would strongly advise families with autistic or otherwise disabled members to think very carefully before booking here.

Had a great visit to Hollywood Bowl Bolton and would definitely recommend it for families, couples or groups of friends looking for something fun to do. The venue was clean, well organised and had a really good atmosphere from the moment we arrived. There was plenty to do and the bowling itself was enjoyable, with the lanes running smoothly and everything easy to use. It’s a great place for children as well as adults, making it ideal for family days out. The arcade games add extra entertainment and make it more than just a bowling trip. The food and drinks were enjoyable and gave us a chance to sit down and relax between games. Staff were friendly and helpful which made the experience even better. Overall, Hollywood Bowl Bolton is a really fun place to spend a few hours, whether you’re celebrating something or just looking for an enjoyable day out. We had a lovely time and would happily come back again.

Hollywood Bowl Bolton is a great fun for all the family! As well as bowling it offers a variety of arcade games, air hockey and pool. Kids can win tickets on the machines and exchange them for a prize. You can have food and soft/alcoholic drinks brought straight to your bowling lane or enjoy it in the seated area. Prices are what you would expect and parking is free. Better to book tickets in advance as they can get busy.
