🏡 Self-Catering Cottage

Appleshine Cottage

Almondbury village sits on the edge of the Peak District, within reach of the North Yorkshire Moors and close to Holmfirth. Appleshine Cottage occupies an elevated spot in this small Yorkshire settlement, a 17th-century barn that has been restored while keeping its character—exposed stone and original beams remain. The position commands views across countryside toward Castle Hill and the Victoria Tower folly.

The cottage holds four guests across two bedrooms, each with two single beds and an ensuite. Downstairs combines living and dining space with a working kitchen; there's an enclosed garden with patio, lawn, and barbecue. WiFi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are provided. You have private parking for two cars and access to a garage containing a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. The garden has some unevenness—a sloping bank and steps—and there's a wall at the rear with a drop to the patio, which matters if you have young children or unsteady mobility. No smoking is permitted. Walking starts from the doorstep, from gentle paths to more testing terrain; the area also suits cycling, golf and horse riding. Pubs within 15 minutes on foot offer food, while Holmfirth provides shops, cafes and restaurants.
