About The Blue Bell Country Inn

The Blue Bell Country Inn is a village pub with rooms in Arkendale, a few miles from Knaresborough and within easy reach of Harrogate and York. Behind its traditional exterior are six boutique-style bedrooms, several with freestanding double-ended baths and comfortable seating areas, giving the inn a more elevated feel than its pub setting might suggest.

The restaurant serves as the heart of the building, with a menu built around seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and a bar area that stays busy with regulars and passing visitors alike. Every stay includes a freshly prepared breakfast.

Its village location suits visitors who want a quieter overnight base with a genuinely good meal included, rather than staying in the town centre itself. Arkendale is a short drive from Knaresborough's castle and riverside, making the Blue Bell a practical option for exploring the wider area by car.

Spotted here by chance on the way home. Super hungry and hoping for something to eat. We got so much more. We were made to feel so welcome by the chap behind the bar. Dinner service hadn’t started yet but we were given menus to look over and taken to the restaurant as soon as chef was ready. We had three courses. Every single dish was well presented, prepared to be super tasty and generous portions. A great variety to choose from too. The setting inside the Blue Bell is beautiful, cosy and filled with lots of lovely details throughout. We loved the sheep in a flat back cap! The little details carried to the bathrooms too. Smelled lovely. And very clean. Honestly been so long since we had service like this coupled with a great setting and food! We cannot recommend enough! Definitely hope to be back this way to visit again! Thank you from Kimberley and Simon (the muddy, slightly disheveled climbers)

Really nice pub in a great location. The food here was spectacular and I would highly recommend it. We stayed overnight so had breakfast and this was also really good. The room was very clean and tidy and we were really made to feel welcome by the staff. There are some lovely places to visit that are all quite close like Ripon, Knaresborough and Harrogate. I would highly recommend staying here and we will be returning at some point in the future.

This is an absolutely beautiful country pub with gorgeous flowers in baskets, pots and troughs, surrounding the outside seating area. The inside is warm and welcoming with a variety of different seating areas and a well stocked bar. We visited for dinner on a Tuesday night and the food was absolutely delicious and the service and friendliness of the staff was perfect. Definitely highly recommended.
