About Childwall Abbey by Marstons Inns

Childwall Abbey Road sets a leafy, residential tone for this Marstons Inns hotel, with a garden and outdoor seating giving it a settled, suburban feel rather than a city-centre one. It makes a practical base for exploring Liverpool and the wider Merseyside area, while offering a bar and restaurant on site for anyone who'd rather not venture out after a day of sightseeing.

Rooms are en-suite and kept clean and comfortable, with some enjoying particularly good views over the surrounding area. Breakfast is well-regarded, and food and drinks throughout are reasonably priced, including a children's menu for family stays. One point worth noting is that plumbing in some rooms can be noisy, so light sleepers might want to bear that in mind.

Staff are friendly and helpful, and practical extras include free on-site parking, an electric vehicle charge point, free WiFi and 24-hour reception. A golf course, pubs, bars and further restaurants are all nearby, making it easy to fill an evening without travelling far.

Stayed here because it was the closest accommodation to lime pictures for the tour. I booked a single room, shared a single bed with my 6 year old. The price for one night plus breakfast was abit much. Noise everytime you turn the taps on in the room and you need to turn them the opposite way which i kept forgetting to do and ended up splashing myself. The lights were shining through the window aswell. The mirror was half blocked off with a shelf for the hair dryer. Abit hard to sit and put make up on when you can't see the mirror properly so ended up having to stand. The breakfast was ok size but didn't satisfy me so ended up paying extra for some fries. It was a big portion so didn't eat them all. Check out was 11 which is good and was able to leave my bag while we went to the Hollyoaks tour then came back for the bag. Staff were friendly. I would stay again if we needed to.

This is a lovely little pub with rooms. There was only one key available for a family room which was inconvenient for me and my sister. The room was modern and clean, really nice. Good beds and pillows but the bathroom is quite dated. The room only had two electrical sockets and the mirror was on the other side of the room! Not great when trying to do your hair!! The food was ok - breakfast service was super slow but worth the wait! The drinks selection in the pub was limited - no Tia Maria or Kahlua (so no Baby Guinness shots at our celebration of life). No sambuca either so trying to raise a glass was a bit of a disappointment if you don't want Jamie's or Jagermeister!! BUT the prices were good, the room was lovely and the bed comfortable. Best of all, the staff were really helpful and lovely. I even loved the locals!!

Great place to stay, really friendly, cheery staff, and situated in a perfect location, quiet, lovely spot in the village !! No probs parking our large van !! Rooms perfect, macerator can be a bit noisy if your bed right next to bathroom !! Too late arriving for evening meal but pub was lively as Quiz night, so nothing wrong with a pint & bag of crisps for dinner !! Breakfast was spot on.....on a personal note could be earlier serving as 0800hrs bit late as we stay in hotels for work, but that's our fault !! 🤣 Would definitely recommend you and you're now on our "preferred" list when up in Liverpool !! Thank you 🌞
