About Hodgkinson's Hotel

Hodgkinson's Hotel occupies a Grade II listed building on North Parade in the heart of Matlock Bath, with a history dating back to 1770 and its current name adopted around 1840, when the village was at the height of its popularity as an inland spa resort. The hotel sits directly on the village's main street, a short walk from the railway station, aquarium and cable car.

Eight individually styled bedrooms, each named after a Derbyshire village or landmark, range from a single room to superior doubles, all with en-suite bathrooms, complimentary tea and coffee, and free Wi-Fi. The building retains a strong sense of its Victorian character throughout the public areas and bedrooms alike.

A breakfast room serves guests each morning, and the hotel's central Parade position, along with on-site parking and drying facilities for walkers, makes it a practical and characterful base for exploring both the village and the wider Peak District on foot.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. From the moment I arrived, everything felt welcoming and thoughtfully designed. The atmosphere is elegant yet comfortable, and every detail from the rooms to the shared spaces . It reflects a high level of care and quality. What truly made the experience stand out was the service. The staff were incredibly lovely, warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a genuine smile. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, which made the stay feel extra special. I left feeling relaxed and well looked after, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. I will definitely be coming back! Finally I would like to say our host gave us great recommendations on where to go and what to see ! And provided us with the best breakfast ever 😍 thank you to all the team for the wonderful weekend we had !

Loved it here! Felt at home! Very reasonable price. Ample breakfast every morning. The room was very clean when I arrived and the staff couldn't do enough for you. As a solo traveller I felt safe too and was welcomed to sit with others. Decor is very traditional and lovely.
