What visitors say
An excellent experience. The wheel itself is interesting, with it's history and the engineering involved. There's also some interesting quirky little shops nearby, do do explore. It's not really suitable if you are of limited mobility - the wheel itself has several parts accessible via stairs, some steep. The top of the wheel is accessible via two sections of a tight, narrow spiral staircase

The Laxey Wheel is a historic landmark that you absolutely have to visit when you are on the Isle of Man. It is one of the island’s most iconic attractions and has been beautifully restored, allowing visitors to see this impressive piece of engineering in full working order. It is amazing to witness the scale and craftsmanship of this remarkable waterwheel and to learn about its importance in the island’s mining history. If you are not afraid of heights, I highly recommend climbing all the way to the top of the wheel. The views from above are spectacular and definitely worth the effort. It gives you a unique perspective of the wheel itself and the surrounding countryside. The guided explanations and information provided along the way were excellent. The staff and volunteers clearly have a real passion for the history of the site and are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge with visitors. Their stories and explanations make the experience even more enjoyable and interesting. A fascinating and well-preserved piece of history that is definitely worth a visit while exploring the Isle of Man. Highly recommended! ⭐

We only had short time to visit walked from car park. Entry £14 per person no one in group bothered with lack of time. If not visiting inside walk along bottom road past fire station. Don't go across wooden bridge keep straight on then follow road around up hill. Can take photos from here.

It's been a number of years since I went here but Google are asking me to review it and I can't think that much will have changed. The Laxey Wheel is an amazing feat of engineering to achieve something relatively simple by today's standards, so if you have an enquiring mind then you'll love it! It's also a nice walk around the outside of the mine and you can go up some steep stairs to the top of the wheel, so it's not really for wheelchair users or those with mobility problems.
