Long-standing farm site by Horner Wood, six miles from Minehead
About Burrowhayes Farm Caravan and Camping Site
Tucked into the wooded Horner valley on the National Trust's Holnicote Estate, Burrowhayes offers something genuinely special: pitches sheltered by mature oaks beside Horner Water, a world away from the windswept moorland sites nearby. The facilities impress for a farm site—heated shower block, well-stocked shop, laundry—and the location puts you on the doorstep of one of England's largest ancient oak woodlands, with trails climbing to Dunkery Beacon or dropping to Porlock Weir.
The real draw, though, is the onsite riding stables. Led pony rides suit younger children, while experienced riders can head straight out into Horner woods and onto the moor. It's a rare combination of pastoral comfort and genuine adventure. Some visitors note the site can feel a touch tired in places, but the setting and welcome more than compensate. Open mid-March to late October.

What visitors say
I was taken to this campsite as a child in my Mum & Dad's caravan and loved every minute of it.\\n\\nNow history is repeating itself as I take my two children to Burrowhayes with my wife in our caravan. We've been every year for the past four or five years.\\n\\nThe place hasn't changed much since I visited as a child, that's not a bad thing by the way. Julian and the team are so helpful and very kind to my children if they pop into the shop occasionally.\\n\\nThe river next to the campsite is a great 'wild' playpark for children of all ages and the pony trekking available onsite is fantastic.

A brilliant family-run site, in beautiful, peaceful surroundings, 2 minutes walk from the best cream teas you could wish for, 5 minutes from Porlock!\\nAnd the price was amazingly good!\\nWe will definitely be back.

What a little gem of a site.\\nStayed here for a week in the caravan and found this site clean and tidy with a good stocked shop and great showers.\\nIt's a bit in the middle of nowhere but close to porlock and Minehead.\\nThe road to the site is narrow with passing places but as long as you don't arrive before 11am and leave before 11am you are fine.\\nVery friendly staff.\\nAll in all a lovely little camp site and will return if down that way.
