The Museum of Gloucester is a lovely little museum and well worth visiting, especially considering it’s free. It’s quite small, so you can comfortably see everything without needing a whole afternoon, but there’s still a good mix of local history and interesting displays. One of the things I really appreciated was how family-friendly and accessible it is. The layout is easy to navigate and it feels welcoming for visitors of all ages and needs. I visited with an autistic gentleman who, to be fair, was mainly interested in the dinosaurs. The dinosaur section definitely kept his attention, though the rest of the museum didn’t quite capture his interest in the same way. At one point he even compared me to a velociraptor, which I’m choosing to take as a compliment. Overall, it’s a great little museum for families, very accessible, and a nice place to spend some time learning about Gloucester’s history. And being free makes it even better. 🦖

Great little museum. My pre-school son often asks to visit here and he loves seeing the dinosaur exhibit. He is also fascinated by the Roman skeleton. I have learned a fair bit about the local area too, which is always a bonus. It is fairly small, a casual look around won't take you long. However there is still a lot to see and if taking time to absorb all exhibits you can spend an hour or two there. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Several car parks nearby too, and on a bus route/close to the centre so very easy to get to. Accessible for wheelchairs/mobility and also has a lift to the upper level.

A great place for families (and also individuals without children) as you can learn about the history of Gloucester on an easy to comprehend level with interactive displays. The staff is friendly and the little shop and cafe area are lovely. Also it is free which enables everyone to visit this museum. Truly an asset to Gloucester (we visited several times while we were in town).
