About Canal Court Hotel and Spa

The Canal Court Hotel stands on Merchants Quay in the heart of Newry, beside the historic Newry Canal, and is run by the McParland family as one of the city's largest hotels. Its location on the main Belfast-to-Dublin corridor makes it a practical base for visitors combining the Mournes with a wider tour of Northern Ireland or a crossing into the Republic.

The hotel's own CC Spa offers a pool, treatment rooms and thermal suite, and its restaurant and bars serve both residents and the local Newry crowd, giving it a livelier, more urban feel than the smaller hotels closer to the coast.

Room types run from standard doubles through to family rooms and the Ambassador Suite, and the hotel's size means it regularly handles weddings and business conferences alongside leisure guests exploring the western Mournes and the Ring of Gullion.

Fantastic hotel with exceptional staff. I was staying with a woman who has learning disabilities, and every member of the team was incredibly kind, patient and supportive. From reception and spa staff to the kitchen team and even maintenance staff, everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The level of care and professionalism shown throughout our stay was outstanding. Thank you all for making our visit such a positive and memorable experience. We look forward to returning.

The afternoon tea with my cousin was truly special. Deeply grateful to the F&B Manager who allowed to have it on an unscheduled weekday (I heard canal court does their afternoon tea only from Thursday to Sunday); we had ours on a Wednesday 🤭 Also, thanks to Bernie who made our afternoon tea enjoyable; she's friendly and very accommodating. Had a short but sweet chat with her. The front desk staff were friendly and nice as well. Food was delicious and nicely presented. Truly an amazing and wonderful experience! Again, thank you Canal Court. Btw, I'm visiting from Canada. 🤗

Was upstairs celebrating with dinner with family. Young staff members were rude and took forever with their service. Double charge us for the drinks we already paid at the bar and the deposit. When we pulled them we overheard the younger staff complaining. Food was nice and the older staff member was professional, polite and helpful. They really need to get better trained staff, especially the younger ones.

Nice hotel centrally placed in Newry town centre. A great base for visiting surrounding areas such as the Mourne Mountains. The rooms are nice and spacious, although they don’t all have aircon, as we discovered, but once we got moved to a room with aircon it was nice and easy to regulate the temperature as we wanted it.
