Dalvista Cottage

Na h-Eileanan Siar

Dalvista Cottage stands in Leurbost, a scattered hamlet on the Isle of Lewis, putting you within reach of some of the Hebrides' most distinctive landscapes. The machair—flower-filled grassland that runs along the west coast—draws walkers year-round, with summer wildflowers and orchids at their peak. White sand beaches back onto these same coastal strips, while inland you'll find the Callanish Standing Stones and the well-preserved Carloway Broch. Stornoway, the island's main town, holds Lews Castle with its grounds and woodland walks, plus a museum displaying Lewis Chessmen discovered in local sand dunes. For wildlife watchers, the area regularly yields sightings of corncrakes, hen harriers, seals, otters, golden eagles and dolphins; summer brings basking sharks and whales. Boat trips from nearby ports offer guided chances to spot more.

The cottage itself is a detached four-bedroom property sleeping eight. Two double bedrooms with ensuite and bathroom facilities occupy the ground floor, along with a kitchen fitted for proper cooking—electric range, dishwasher and tumble dryer included—and a living room with a multi-fuel burner. Upstairs are two further bedrooms: one double and one with two single beds, plus a second sitting area with a TV and Xbox. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are covered, as is the initial fuel for the burner. An enclosed lawned garden with gravelled seating area, garden furniture and children's play equipment sits beyond, with parking for three cars on site. No smoking throughout.

Walking, surfing, fishing, golf, diving, sea kayaking and cycling are all pursued locally. The cottage does not allow smoking.
