About Laxdale Holiday Park
Laxdale Holiday Park sits a short drive north of Stornoway, making it the most practical base for ferry and flight arrivals wanting full facilities near the islands' only town. This long-established, family-run site beside the Laxdale burn offers grass touring pitches, hardstanding for caravans and motorhomes, plus a bunkhouse for those without their own kit. You'll find hot showers, laundry, electric hook-up, wifi and a small essentials shop – sensible comforts for a first or last stop before exploring Lewis.
The sheltered, wooded setting along the burn provides welcome protection from Atlantic winds compared with more exposed coastal pitches, though you trade direct sea views for practicality and ease of access. Its position just off the main road north puts Callanish, the Butt of Lewis and west coast beaches within day-trip range, while Stornoway harbour, the Arnol Blackhouse and Lewis war memorial are all within a few miles. Worth booking ahead for July and August, especially if you're arriving off the early Ullapool sailing.

This small campsite is well-placed for visiting Stornoway, as it is just 30 mins walk from the town and castle and the Co-op supermarket is even nearer. The owner is friendly and helpful. The pitches vary and some are not level but they will try and place you on a level pitch if you ask. Our pitch even had views to the sea, others look over fields. The facilities are kept spotless and the showers are hot and continuous with good pressure. Some are timed. The washing up area is indoors too.

Staff very helpful & friendly. Facilities are great and clean. Love the feminine touch of the vanity room - after a few weeks on the road it was really appreciated. Interesting walks with dog around urban community. Close to ferry terminal (10 min drive). I also got a lovely spot next to the trees so I was happy!

Great stopover in our motorhome. Super clean facilities and well looked after camp site. The overall site isn't huge which is nice lots of space for campers as well as their own wigwams and huts. All motorhome services included in price EHU, CDP, fresh water and grey water. 30min walk or 12min cycle to centre of town.

Such a cool place, holiday park to me sounded more white motorhomes but this place was unexpectedly quirky I loved it! We were greeted by I believe the groundskeeper was what he said, and he was lovely and really friendly. We were there because of a horrifically early ferry and the location couldn’t have been better only 8 mins drive. The facilities were amazing! Definitely had the ingenuity of a woman behind it, they had a vanity room with mirrors and hairdryers so cool :) Definitely recommend
