About Rosehip Wood Wild Camping

Rosehip Wood Wild Camping delivers proper back-to-basics camping on the edge of West Dereham, where a diverse young woodland meets open grassy clearings perfect for rounders or football. The fully fenced site lets children roam safely, building dens from fallen branches or discovering the secret cedar hideaway, while wildlife enthusiasts can spot deer and birds among the trees. Come nightfall, minimal light pollution reveals star-studded skies, and campfires crackle in provided firepits (logs available to buy). Pitches spread across meadow and woodland areas, including a dedicated Silver Birch Glade for groups.

Facilities stay true to wild camping principles—two composting loos, mains water and picnic tables, but no showers or electricity, so pack torches for after-dark adventures. Stunning river walks along the relief channel start just ten minutes' walk away, with the River Wissey reachable via footpaths through farmland (maps on site). Though some find the lack of hot water challenging, most embrace the simplicity. Downham Market lies ten minutes' drive away when you need supplies or fancy a pint in a historic pub.

What visitors say

Sam Widdicombe

First time staying here and thoroughly enjoyed our time, it was very peaceful and quiet. The site is great, a good selection of pitches with varying levels of seclusion within the woods. Compost toilets, mains water tap, and segregated recycling bins were very useful too.
