Kingfisher suits families and groups of up to six looking for a base with something for everyone. The cottage is single-storey, all on one level, with a double bedroom and two rooms of single beds. There's one shower room and a living/dining space with Freeview TV. The kitchen has an electric cooker, dishwasher and microwave, so you can prepare proper meals rather than relying on takeaways.
An enclosed, lawned garden with patio and barbecue sits immediately outside. Beyond that, the 14-acre grounds contain two coarse fishing lakes, free to use during your stay—a genuine draw if you fish, though not essential if you don't. The site has parking for two cars and sits just outside Barnstaple, putting beaches like Instow, Saunton and Woolacombe within easy reach. Bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included; heating and electricity run on a key card meter after the initial allowance. One well-behaved pet stays free. The cottage is non-smoking.

Best place I’ve ever been to! Had the best day catching some absolutely stunning fish, it’s so lovely and we will 100% be back

Our family of four are just about to finish our weeks stay. We've been to Devon and Cornwall a few times over the years for holidays, and I can hand on heart say this is the best we've had. The fishing is brilliant if you're coming for that (not to mention lakes to yourself when the day tickets start and finish 7-7) but I want to say the owners are super lovely, accomodating and friendly. The cottage we stayed in was perfect and all you can need, even with a private garden and a huge back garden for the kids to play. The surroundings for evening walks are lovely (wish we had brought the dog!). So much to do within half hour of driving. Croyde bay, westward ho, tarka trail, combe Martin, Ilfracombe. The list goes on. Great local pubs too. The biggest positive was the price. Seriously, they could charge another 20% and it would be worth it. We spoke to people fishing on the lake who spent 3x as much locally (albeit on the beach and modern apartment) and they couldn't believe what we paid. Such value for money and free fishing included which meant my teenage son loved his 6am starts each day! We will be back and thank you so much for having us.

Beautiful surroundings and great fishing. The cottages are really homely and well equipped for a good holiday. Dog friendly and lovely to walk around the lakes with your dog.

Just returned from our second stay at Riverton lakes. Last time we stayed in Mole cottage and this time in the Lodge. Absolutely love staying here. It's quite and peaceful but near enough to local amenities . The cottages are very well equipped and very clean. My husband loves the fishing in the beautiful and well kept lakes while I enjoy exploring the local area.Jackie the owner is lovely and very friendly. Will be back next year.
