North Devon here you come… and what an adults-only treat awaits at Cherry Meadow Retreats, five minutes' drive from the rural village of Umberleigh and far, far away from the noise of your busy lives. Here you can surround yourselves with peaceful countryside views and more than a smattering of luxury in well-designed shepherd's huts where quality is the watchword.
Each of these natty little hideaways is decorated to a high standard, with a microwave, induction hob and cool box in the bespoke kitchen, a smart ensuite with electric shower, and a cabin bed with a stargazing porthole right above your pillows. All bed linens and towels are supplied, there's room for a fold-down oak table just right for cosy suppers, and the huts are fully insulated, keeping them warm whatever the weather is doing outside.
Talking of outside, each hut has a private garden with a firepit and barbecue, as well as stunning views over wildflower meadows and 60 acres of Devon farm fields where cattle graze. If you want to stretch your legs, you can explore the property's woodland and follow the trickling stream, or hotfoot it down to the well-known pub in Chittlehampton, a 15-minute walk away.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’ve stayed at Cherry Meadow Retreats three times, and it never disappoints! The shepherd's hut is incredibly well-equipped, making it feel like a true home away from home. Jenny and Kevin are amazing hosts—always responsive and helpful, ensuring you have everything you need for a fantastic stay. The peaceful surroundings are perfect for relaxation, and I love cozying up by the log burner in the evenings. If you’re looking for a serene getaway with great amenities and outstanding hospitality, Cherry Meadow Retreats is the place to be. I can’t wait for my next visit!

Cherry Meadow Retreats is an excellent place for you to stay, to relax and unwind on a beautiful farm. Its lovely to see the farm cows and wildlife and flowers in the fields nearby. The Shepherd's hut is well equipped with a shower, toilet and wood burner to keep you warm. The hosts Jenny and Kevin are at hand if you need to know anything. A great place to stay if you want to visit nearby Exmoor and the local attractions. We had a wonderful comfortable stay and was even supplied with some marsh mellows, which we roasted on the firepit one evening. A great place to relax in, thank you Jenny and Kevin

Cherry meadow retreats are luxury shepherds huts, set in a beautiful country setting behind a working Devon farm. All you can hear are birds singing and bees buzzing and a breeze blowing gently in the nearby woods. It’s a very relaxing place to be. The hut we stayed in had everything you needed, amazing how a full sized shower room is within the hut. A lovely wood burner that worked very well. It was very comfortable and clean and attention to detail throughout. We watched the cows wake in the morning and there are some lovely meadow flowers in the front of the huts. This encouraged wildlife such as bees and butterfly’s. Also hundreds of goldfinch feasting on some of the seeds that were drying in the thistle heads. We had a very relaxing stay away from hustle and bustle and noise. So nice to have a dark sky at night to star gaze. Perfect for anyone that loves the countryside and wildlife and wants time to unwind and reset. Jenny and Kevin were very welcoming always available to help if needed. We will be returning after our September break 2024. We wish them all the best for 2025 Jenny and Mark Hyslop
