The Coach House

The Coach House occupies a converted outbuilding behind a 16th-century coaching inn in the hilltop village of Chulmleigh. You arrive into a ground floor that opens directly into living space: a sitting room with a woodburner and 65-inch TV gives onto a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, with French doors leading to a patio and shared garden beyond. Upstairs, three bedrooms—each with its own ensuite shower room—provide flexible sleeping arrangements: the first has a zip-and-link bed that converts from superking to twin, while the other two offer kingsize beds. Three bathrooms mean no queuing, and the main bathroom has a full bath with shower over.

The space works well for two families or a group of six. Essentials like linen, towels, heating and Wi-Fi are covered, and the logs for the woodburner are supplied. There's parking for two cars on site. The village itself has pubs, restaurants and shops within walking distance, while South Molton's farmers' market and independent retailers are a short drive away. Barnstaple, 12 miles north, offers a theatre, cinema and museums including the Museum of North Devon. An 18-hole par-3 golf course is two minutes' walk from the property; larger courses lie within ten minutes by car. One well-behaved pet is welcome. No smoking inside.
