West Hurscott Cottage is part of a 16th-century thatched Devon longhouse, converted into a spacious semi-detached home that still carries traces of its original character. It occupies high ground with far-reaching countryside views across the landscape. Four steps lead to the entrance, and the whole cottage is yours alone for the duration of your stay.
Inside, the ground floor contains a living room with a woodburner and entertainment options, a kitchen/dining room with a full range of cooking appliances and dishwasher, a utility room with washing machine, and a conservatory. Upstairs, you have one double bedroom and one single, plus a shower room. Bed linen and towels are provided, along with electricity.
The location suits families and couples equally well. Barnstaple is a short drive away; within a similar distance you'll find the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal, and the fishing village of Clovelly. North Devon beaches are roughly half an hour's travel. Walkers have Dartmoor, cyclists can use the Tarka Trail, and a shop, pub and restaurant are 1½ miles off. One dog stays free. No smoking indoors.

What guests say
We've just had a fabulous week's stay here with our two dogs. The cottage is very homely and packed with original features. It was the ideal base for us to explore north Devon and the perfect destination for a late summer break. I would definitely recommend it! 👍
