Campground in a Wensleydale valley with riverside and open field pitches, near waterfalls and walking routes.

About Rukins Campsite

Rukins Campsite sits in Keld, a small settlement deep in Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales. The pitches spread across riverside and open field locations, giving campers a choice between the shelter of trees or unobstructed views across the valley. Kisdon Force waterfall is just up the road, and the wider area is laced with walking trails that follow becks and moorland paths.

The campsite runs its own shop and cafe on site, selling groceries and essentials alongside fresh cakes and hot food, so you do not need to leave for basics or a quick bite. Showers and toilet facilities are clean and spacious. The location suits anyone drawn to long walks and exploring the Dales on foot, whether that is a casual stroll to the waterfall or a serious hike across higher ground. Swimming spots in the river are accessible from the site.

I visited for the day to cycle around the area. There’s an honesty‑box donation for day parking, which is a nice touch. I asked the owner if I could use the showers and he was happy for me to — really friendly people. It’s a lovely place. If you’re cycling, stick to the road because the Swale Trail is more suited to hikers than bikes. I got caught in the rain partway through, but it was still a great day out. I’ll definitely come back to walk the full 12‑mile trail. Reminder to everyone: always pack a raincoat, even when it looks sunny. The weather changes fast.

Beautiful campsite, it was exactly what we needed. We were in the middle of the storm but the location and area was great. Right by the river, and a open field. Showers were great also. Thank you for a lovely stay, I would definitely recommend!

Surely one of the finest campsites in the Dales. Wonderfully old fashioned and welcoming check in process in the farmhouse cafe/shop, plenty of pitches and a superb location next to Catrake Force. Indoor wash up room was a life saver when it came to midges (beware!) Showers also very spacious. Couldn't recommend more highly.
