Bilsdale attracts serious birdwatchers from across the country, drawn by sightings of the two-barred crossbill and the exceptional variety of species in the area. The cottage takes its name from that rare visitor. Beyond the birdwatching, the North Yorkshire Moors lie within reach for walking, and the rural setting offers the kind of quietness that makes a real difference to a break.
Crossbill Cottage is a converted barn at the end of a farm track, with the original beams and high ceilings still evident. The ground floor holds a combined living and dining space with a woodburner, plus a kitchen equipped for proper cooking. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed and en-suite shower, the other a single—and a separate bathroom. The property sleeps three. An enclosed garden with seating, a barbecue and a play house sits beyond the main building; parking is available for two cars on site.
Essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are covered. Note that there is an unfenced pond on the grounds, so children need supervising. No smoking inside.
