Hungate Cottages – Danbydale works for couples after a retreat, families wanting space to spread out, or small groups needing their own place. The cottage holds four people across two bedrooms: a king-size four-poster and a room with twin singles. Two bathrooms mean no morning queues. Downstairs, the living room has an open fire, and the kitchen comes equipped for proper cooking – oven, dishwasher, microwave. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, along with fuel for the fire.

The property sits just outside Pickering town centre, close enough to walk to pubs and shops but far enough to feel tucked away. Pickering itself has a 12th-century castle, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for steam train journeys, and a medieval church with remarkable frescoes. The North York Moors spread across the landscape beyond; York is 26 miles off. Nearby are several stately homes and abbeys worth a day trip. A pub lies within a mile. On-site parking is available, and the cottage has a garden with furniture; families can request a cot, highchair, bed guard and stairgate. No smoking throughout.

Another great stay at Hungate Cottages. Ideal location for local attractions in Pickering and North Yorkshire. The cottages are clean, comfortable and well equipped. Really well run and organised by Rachel and Richard who always make us feel welcome.

Hungary cottages are something quite special in a beautiful part of Yorkshire. Peaceful apart from birdsong and church bells. Our hosts Rachel and Richard always give us a warm welcome and the cottages are presented beautifully. Nothing is too much trouble. This is our fifth visit and definitely won't be our last.

Such a comfortable and cosy cottage perfectly placed for all that this part of North Yorkshire has to offer. Tucked away in a quiet spot but very close to shops and amenities. Excellent information in the house and a great place to stay with the dog.
