Pickering itself rewards exploration: the castle dates back to the 12th century, the church holds remarkable medieval wall paintings, and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs vintage trains through heather moorland to Grosmont. York lies 26 miles away. Nearby estates including Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey and Duncombe Park are within reach for a day out, and the North York Moors open up for walking and driving.
The Carrs is a self-contained two-bedroom cottage with space for four. Downstairs, the living room has a woodburner and French doors to the patio; the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, with a dishwasher and washing machine. The first floor holds a kingsize bedroom with ensuite shower, and a second bedroom with two singles and a family bathroom. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. One car can park on site, and the enclosed garden comes with patio furniture.
One dog or cat stays free. The cottage suits families and couples, and cots or bed guards are available if needed. No smoking indoors.

Another great stay at Hungate Cottages. Ideal location for local attractions in Pickering and North Yorkshire. The cottages are clean, comfortable and well equipped. Really well run and organised by Rachel and Richard who always make us feel welcome.

Hungary cottages are something quite special in a beautiful part of Yorkshire. Peaceful apart from birdsong and church bells. Our hosts Rachel and Richard always give us a warm welcome and the cottages are presented beautifully. Nothing is too much trouble. This is our fifth visit and definitely won't be our last.

Such a comfortable and cosy cottage perfectly placed for all that this part of North Yorkshire has to offer. Tucked away in a quiet spot but very close to shops and amenities. Excellent information in the house and a great place to stay with the dog.
