Families, couples and small groups will find The Shawl Retreat a practical base for exploring Wensleydale. This two-bedroom static caravan sleeps up to six, with a double and twin bedroom plus a sofa bed in the living space. The bathroom has a shower cubicle, and the open-plan kitchen and lounge include a Smart TV and electric fire. Essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are provided, along with on-site parking.
Leyburn itself is a working market town with independent shops, tearooms and pubs. The Shawl – a ridge path starting nearby – offers walks with views across the Dales. Slightly further afield are Bolton Castle, Richmond with its Georgian theatre, Middleham's racing stables, and the twin waterfalls at Aysgarth and Hardraw Force. The Wensleydale Creamery at Hawes is another draw for a day out. The Yorkshire Dales National Park surrounds the area, with routes suited to everything from casual rambles to serious hiking.

What guests say
Just a field with a beatiful view, water tap and chemical disposal point. Very reasonable charge. Short walk from the center of Leyburn although the road at one point has no footpath and it can be quite busy. Short drive from places like Hawes and Richmond. The site is quite exposed and can get a bit blustery in high winds. You also have to pick your spot carefully in the field as the ground is a bit uneven. One of our favourite sites in this area.

Nature meets life at Leyburn. Aysgarth falls and Richmond are both near and great places to visit with family.
