Middleton House

North Yorkshire

View on Google Maps

Filey sits on the Yorkshire coast with one of the region's longest, flattest stretches of sand—over four miles of it, usable year-round by families, dog walkers and horse riders alike. The beach is a quarter-mile from Middleton House, which occupies a quiet spot just off the high street; the pub is 150 yards away, a shop 200 yards, and a restaurant at 300 yards. The medieval city of York lies an hour's drive inland.

The house sleeps six across three bedrooms: one with a king bed, two with single beds each. There is one bathroom with a bath and separate shower cubicle, plus a separate toilet. Downstairs, the living room has a multi-fuel burner, and there is a dedicated dining room. The kitchen is fully fitted for self-catering, with an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; fuel for the burner is provided to start with. One well-behaved pet stays free. The property is yours alone—no shared spaces or other guests.

This works well for families wanting beach time without the fuss of a caravan park, or for groups wanting somewhere with proper separation between living and sleeping areas. The RSPB sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs, visible from the coast north of Filey, draws visitors to see puffins and migrating birds. The town has a train station with regular services to Scarborough and Bridlington. No smoking indoors.
