Slater’s Cottage

North Yorkshire

View on Google Maps

Middleham is a working village built around two cobbled squares, where the clatter of racehorses heading to the gallops is as much part of the soundscape as conversation in its pubs and tea rooms. The 12th-century castle dominates the skyline—Richard III's former home, now open to visitors for views across Wensleydale from the tower. Walking and cycling routes start at the doorstep, and Leyburn lies nearby. Slater's Cottage sits within easy reach of these things, a terraced stone cottage with three bedrooms and two shower rooms that sleeps five.

Ground floor holds a living room with an open fire, a well-equipped kitchen with electric ovens and induction hob, and one shower room. Upstairs are three bedrooms—a super king, a double, and a single—plus a second shower room with heated towel rail. Bed linen and towels come as standard, along with wi-fi. An enclosed courtyard with garden furniture and on-site parking complete the setup. One small dog stays free. The cottage is non-smoking throughout.

Shops, pubs and restaurants sit 500 yards away, making this a practical base whether you're visiting to explore the castle, walk the surrounding countryside, or simply spend time in a village that still functions as a proper community rather than a heritage attraction.
