Swainby is a quiet village on the edge of the North York Moors, with direct access to walking routes and nearby market towns. The Gin Gang occupies what was once a working wheelhouse here—a building with genuine history that has been carefully restored as a holiday home for six people. The conversion respects the original character: stone walls, timber beams and high ceilings remain, but inside you'll find the comfort of a contemporary property.
There are three bedrooms across two floors. Downstairs, two rooms share a Jack and Jill bathroom; upstairs, a third bedroom with a king-size bed looks out over the fields. Four further bathrooms (one ensuite to each ground-floor room, plus a separate shower room) mean no queuing. The kitchen occupies the original wheelhouse space where threshing machinery once stood, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing countryside views. You can cook properly here—there's a range cooker, dishwasher, and wine cooler. The living room has a wood-burner; fuel is included. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all provided, along with parking for three cars and a bike store. One dog is welcome at no extra cost. Smoking is not permitted.
The property suits families, groups of friends, or anyone wanting rural North Yorkshire with proper walking on the doorstep. The village has a pub and a few independent shops, while Helmsley and other market towns are a short drive away.
