The Old King’s Head
North Yorkshire
Pickering sits on the edge of North York Moors National Park, with the park entrance a short walk away. The Old King's Head occupies a quiet courtyard just 50 yards from the market town centre, overlooking the churchyard with views of the medieval church. The setting is peaceful—the main sounds are the church clock and the everyday life of this working market town. Walking and cycling trails comb the moorland immediately around you; Dalby Forest to the north has sustained routes and Go Ape if you want something more structured.
This converted 18th-century inn gives you the whole building to yourselves. Three bedrooms sleep 7: one kingsize on the second floor, another kingsize and a single on the first, and two singles on the ground. Two bathrooms serve the property. Downstairs is a living room with a multi-fuel stove, a kitchen and dining room with a gas range and full appliances, and a playroom on the lower ground floor. Essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and WiFi are provided. You have private parking for two cars in the courtyard and a bike store. The courtyard includes a shared BBQ space.
Families with young children will find travel cots, highchairs and a stairgate available. The property is non-smoking.
