One dog stays free, though it must be kept on a lead in this sheep farming area.

Gisburn Forest is practically on the doorstep, offering walking and mountain biking trails. The nearest village amenities—a café and pub—are within walking distance. From here you can explore the Yorkshire Dales, Ribble Valley and reach the Lake District without too much of a drive. The cottage doesn't allow smoking.
